THE LIFFEY FLOWS ON BY
The Liffey Flows On By is a first book by Helmdon resident Niki Phillips. A family saga of love, tragedy, and war spanning four generations it is a page-turner that transports readers back to Ireland in the early 1900s. Weaving drama, humour, and historical events to create a story with as many twists and turns as a river, she brings Ireland to life with rich dialogue and memorable characters that will leave readers wanting more.
“Niki Phillips has an impressive knowledge of her subject and a special talent for writing evocative descriptions of battle scenes. She also paints a vivid picture of life in Ireland at the time in which the novel is set.”
Leigh Ferrani, writer.
Niki is delighted to announce that on March 1, the day her book officially comes out, her UK book launch will be held in Helmdon Primary School from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. The event will be hosted by The Friends of Helmdon School and will take the form of an English Cream Tea with scones made by senior children, and she will give a reading from her book. All welcome.
Prior to the launch, she has been invited to give a talk to Year 6 pupils about the process of writing the novel.
Niki's first author signing event is in Brackley on Friday 2nd March, at The Old Hall Bookshop, 11:30 am-1:00 pm! She is very appreciative to that wonderful bookstore for hosting her.
Published by Matador at £6.99, copies can be purchased from Niki (01295) 768202 e-mail, or from The Old Hall Bookshop, Brackley and other bookshops (from 1st March).
