Village website wins award
The website for Helmdon has been voted the UK Villages Online
Web Site Of The Year for 2003.
Having been a monthly winner in March 2002 the site automatically
qualified for the 2003 annual contest.
There was competition from 11 another monthly winners.
The team behind the website said: "It is a huge accolade
for www.helmdon.com to have been voted as the UK's No. 1 village
web site."
Voting took place during March with people voting for their
favourite website, and Helmdon received twice as many votes
as second place Groby in Leicestershire.
Member of the website team, Danny Moody, said: "Any of
the 12 finalists would have been worthy winners and they all
have their own strengths. The award for helmdon.com is a measure
of how much the website is valued in the village. There are
village websites that have better design, or are more clever
technically, but the Helmdon website wins through on content
and community spirit"
Mr Moody added: "The website team would like to thank everyone
who voted for the site, and for the very kind comments received."
