TANK DRIVER’S TOP GEAR STUNT IN BID TO SAVE JEREMY CLARSON

It might not have been enough to save Jeremy Clarkson but the driver of the tank which transported a one million strong petition to the BBC enjoyed a picnic by the Thames.

Nick Mead, who runs Tanks-alot in Helmdon, drove the tank from Islington to the BBC Studios in London on Friday and was joined by The Stig to hand over the petition to save the shamed presenter.

It almost went horribly wrong hen Nick found the tank had a flat battery and once the tank was fired up, it meant they were late arriving at Broadcasting House.

But after the stunt  - organised by the Guido Fawkes blog -  Nick enjoyed a picnic by the Thames with his sister, commander Gill.

Nick said:  ”There was a big of jeopardy as the engine wouldn’t start but it was a really nice day. It’s a shame we didn’t see Clarkson bit I’m sure he knew about it afterwards.  If James May and Richard Hammond stay together, I think there’s a chance he will come back with them or the show will end up on another channel.”
