SWINGS & SLIDES HANDED OVER
The new swings, slide and seats at Helmdon playing field were formally handed over for the use of the children of Helmdon last Friday. The rector the Rev R.J. Rowbury opened the brief ceremony.

The original scheme had been to collect sufficient money to buy land for a village playing field, but it was only comparatively recently that the School Field had been acquired by the parish council.
The accumulated money had been spent to buy swings, a slide and two seats, and the parish and the playing field committeewere pleased to give these to the village.
Mr Ipgrave replied on behalf of the people of Helmdon, and Johnathan Bazeley, a pupil at the school, expressed thanks.
Mrs Wilson, a member of the original playing field committee, declared the swings and side open for the use of the children of Helmdon.
