LEGION STANDARD GOES ON PARADE

A PARADE OF SERVICEMEN, Helmdon cubs, and the Great Horwood Band, marched to Helmdon Parish Church on Sunday to lay up the standard of the Helmdon branch of the Royal British Legion.

Standards from other branches of the Royal British Legion were carried in the parade, which assembled at the village war memorial.

The service was conducted by the rector of Helmdon, Reverend Roger Caldwell, assisted by the Baptist Minister Reverend Peter Hayues. (sic)

In his address, Mr Caldwell reminded those present that although the Helmdon branch had closed, the work of the British Legion would continue.
