MRS RUTH  IPGRAVE

The village was saddened to learn of the death after a long illness of Mrs Ruth Ipgrave.  Ruth, who together with her husband Geoff, the former headmaster of the village school, taught there for over 25 years.

Not only was she a very professional teacher but she was also a caring person who took a great interest in all her pupils, even after they had left school.  It is for this she will be remembered with affection by the generations of children she taught.

She was deeply involved in the life of the village being a member of the Mothers’ Union and the WI and a keen worker for the British Legion.

The funeral service took place at the parish church she loved.  It was conducted jointly by her son, Rev Michael Ipgrave and the rector of Helmdon, The Rev Roger Caldwell.
