Helmdon villagers enjoyed a trip down Memory Lane last week.
As part of their 60th anniversary celebrations, Helmdon Village Institute organized an exhibition of photographs and interesting objects dating back to the 1920s.
The event was held in the Reading Room, Church Street, on Friday. Money raised from the entrance fees will be used to help to pay for food and entertainment at a special meeting of the WI on March 31.
On this day in 1921, the Institute was founded and to mark the occasion several county representatives have been invited along to speak.
Friday’s exhibition featured clothes, book and household items. Also on display were the WI’s record books.
Mrs Louise Holloway and Mrs L Gibbons were original members of the Institute in 1921 and they are both members to this day.
Current president, Mrs Edith Shellard, said: “We decided to hold this exhibition because we wanted to show people just what life was like in the old days.”
